We’re in this together. Heather is a ninja at spotting double-chin moments and has final veto powers over all shots that include females. Stella reviews every film, gives it a 1 - 10 and designs the thank you cards. Walter just tells me if the groom is a cool one or not. Helpful.

HER NAME IS HEATHER.
She’s pretty cool; in my eyes the most perfect human being on the planet. It was Heather who convinced me to quit a bloody good full-time teaching job and do this. That takes guts man. She could see the future though. She knew full well how much that decision was going to benefit our family. It was Heather’s idea to take the family with us in ‘The Mint Trip’ during peak season and convert one end of the caravan into a mobile studio. Heather is an avid Instagrammer. We celebrated 10 years of marriage in January 2020. I decided to surprise her by cutting together our unwatched footage from our wedding into something watchable. You can read the full blog post about our wedding and the process of making the film here!

WHEN BUSHES ATTACK!
I’ve always loved being behind a camera. My dad was a school teacher so I was fortunate growing up always having access to the latest and greatest camcorders (they weighed a ton in the 80’s!)
My early projects were painstakingly edited by cross-dubbing VHS to VHS and I even remember filming rolling credits off a computer screen!
Later, during my time as an outdoor instructor, I tried my hand at making bush safety videos. It's fair to say my best attempt - Decisions over Troubled Water - didn't get picked up by any studios. Or anyone really. Inspired by The Blair Witch Project (which I fair dinkum thought was legit at the time), while tramping with Scouts, I made a no-budget horror -When Bushes Attack. It was no Bad Taste, but certainly better than the last 49 Adam Sandler movies.
In 2016, a friend asked if I’d film her wedding. I gave it a crack. I even duct taped a tripod to my daughter’s scooter to create a sick dolly effect. People really liked that first film and I really liked filming it. I decided weddings were a pretty cool gig so I gave up a damn good teaching job and haven’t looked back.

Heather and I grew up in Christchurch, have lived and worked across New Zealand but now are proud as punch to call the West Coast of New Zealand home. We live smack bang in between Greymouth & Hokitika. We’ve got fast internet and no traffic lights. Which is good, because I need the internet and I hate traffic lights.
I made the town website, so please check it out. I need more traffic so I can get it approved at the next town meeting.
The people and wilderness here are unreal. We love the small town life and nurturing our love of the outdoors with our children.
I believe A wedding film film is an important historical document.
