John + Sara | A Fox Glacier Wedding Rooted in Family, Adventure and the West Coast

Long before John and Sara exchanged vows, their story had already been rooted in Fox Glacier.

John's grandparents farmed the land here. His parents were married in the beautiful Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, and today his grandparents rest in the cemetery beside it. Returning to that same little church to begin the next chapter of their own story wasn't just meaningful - it felt like coming home.

For a couple who love spending their weekends tramping, running, kayaking and cycling, there really couldn't have been a more fitting place to celebrate with the people they love most. In fact, before their wedding they were both preparing to tackle the Longest Day Coast to Coast - so it's fair to say the outdoors has always been part of who they are.

Their ceremony took place inside the charming Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, where Father Peter Head led a heartfelt service surrounded by family, lifelong friends and more than a few happy tears. Afterwards everyone made the short trip to Rocky Creek, where the old airstrip had been transformed into something pretty special. The incredible Gather and Gold Tipis created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly suited the day, with the mountains standing proudly in every direction reminding everyone exactly why the West Coast is such an unforgettable place.

Sara looked absolutely stunning in her gown from Brides of Merivale, arriving in a beautifully presented car generously supplied by family friends Chris and Tanya Stoop. Beautiful bouquets by Phoebe Walker from By Phoebe, along with hair by family friend Sandy Passant and makeup by Jasmin Franc from Skin and Body by Jasmin, completed a timeless bridal look that perfectly suited both Sara and the West Coast setting. Waiting at the altar, John looked every bit the part in his sharp Rembrandt suit.

Robbie loved working alongside photographer Hannah Gardiner, who quietly captured every smile, every embrace and every little moment in between. Having great vendors around you always makes the day flow effortlessly, and this wedding was no exception.

As the afternoon rolled into evening, guests gathered beneath the tipis for speeches before Phoebe Voice kept everything moving seamlessly as MC. Then it was over to LA Social, who wasted no time filling the dance floor and keeping the celebrations going well into the night.

For John and Sara, that story is one of family, legacy and a deep connection to a place that has shaped generations before them. Standing in the same church where John's parents exchanged vows, surrounded by the people they love most, gave this wedding a depth that's difficult to put into words.
