The Kind of Wedding You Never Want to Leave

Every now and then you film a wedding where, by about 3pm, you already know nobody's going to want the day to end.

Tisean and Zayne called it from the very beginning. In their first enquiry they told me the vibe was "PARTY". No pretending to be something they weren't. Just good people, good music, plenty of colour, and a celebration that felt unapologetically like them.

They absolutely delivered.

The morning was relaxed, fun and full of excitement. While the girls laughed their way through hair and makeup, the soundtrack came courtesy of Electric Avenue's soundchecks booming over the fence, giving the morning an unexpected festival vibe! The boys enjoyed an equally chilled morning nearby, soaking it all in before it was time to suit up and head for the ceremony.

From the moment I arrived at Broadfield Gardens, there was a buzz about the place. Sophie from Blank Space Events had everything running like clockwork, meaning everyone else could relax and simply enjoy the day.

As guests found their seats beneath the trees at Broadfield Gardens, the excitement started to build. Then came one of those moments every groom remembers.

The music started.

Everyone stood.

And Tisean made her way down the aisle, looking absolutely stunning in her Kyha Bride gown from Paperswan Bride, with beautiful blooms from A Little Bit Floral completing the look.

You could see it written all over Zayne's face. The smiles quickly turned into tears as he caught his first glimpse of his bride. It's a moment that lasts only a few seconds, but one that stays with you forever.

With Debbie Hawker at the helm, the ceremony struck the perfect balance. Heartfelt when it needed to be, funny when it could be, and sprinkled with Debbie's trademark cheekiness that always seems to put everyone at ease. There were a few happy tears, plenty of laughs, and a beautiful reminder that weddings are about so much more than two people saying "I do". They're about bringing families together, celebrating the people who helped shape your journey, and quietly remembering those who couldn't be there to witness it.

While we were busy filming, Susie Blatchford was weaving her own magic behind the camera.

As the afternoon rolled on, Food By Fire kept everyone more than happy before the volume got turned up. As the sun dipped lower, heartfelt speeches had everyone laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. Then came the haka. Completely spontaneous and delivered with incredible passion, it was a goosebumps moment filled with love, respect and an overwhelming sense of connection.

The biggest surprise of the night came when Tisean performed a traditional Cook Islands dance for Zayne. It was full of heart & colour - one of those moments where every guest stopped what they were doing to watch. Add in the pride of both Cook Islands and Māori culture woven throughout the day, and it became so much more than just a wedding reception.

Then the main, the myth, the legend DJ Danny Ill took over... and from that moment on, there wasn't much point trying to keep people off the dance floor.

Even our Retro Camcorder Crew - Grace and Georgia - got in on the action, capturing the sort of behind-the-scenes moments that somehow end up becoming everyone's favourites.
