Katie & Tom’s Celebration at Kinnoull, Taiko
From the moment Katie and Tom reached out, I knew their wedding at Kinnoull was going to be something special. These two share a love for travel, CrossFit, and high-energy gatherings with a fun crew from all over New Zealand, and their vision was simple: a day filled with raw, natural moments and a lot of laughter. The morning kicked off with two very different vibes; while Katie and her bridesmaids - dressed in elegant Shona Joy gowns - spent the morning in Timaru getting ready with Colour by Case and Hannah Minor MUA, Tom and his groomsmen, sharp in their Sergio’s suits, squeezed in a round of bowls at the Kia Toa Bowling Club. It was the perfect way to settle the nerves before heading to the farm.
The ceremony took place on a farm in Taiko, overlooking the landscape under the South Island sun. Katie rocked up in Don Martin’s classic Landcrusier and looked stunning in her Paperswan Bride gown, carrying a beautiful arrangement by Floral Harvest as she walked toward her groom. As they exchanged vows in front of guests with celebrant Finn Hunt, there was a beautiful, poignant layer to the day; while the atmosphere was celebratory, the couple took time to honor the memory of Tom’s mother, Mandy, through the positive memories shared by their loved ones. We even had a very important four-legged guest, Bonnie the dog, join in for photos with Jessica Leigh Imagery.
If the ceremony was about heart, the reception was about pure energy. Under a stunning clear marquee provided by You Gather Events, the night shifted into high gear with incredible catering from Saikou. The celebration was packed with personality, featuring a champagne tower and a high-energy tambourine entrance! We even had help from the Retro Camcorder Crew, with guests Demi and Matt taking over 90s-style filming to capture candid, red-carpet style interviews. With the Brad Staley Band providing the ultimate soundtrack, the dance floor stayed packed all night. It was exactly the good time Katie and Tom had hoped for - a perfect reflection of their life together.
