Wild Winds & Big Hearts
Britt & Oz’s Lake Tekapo Wedding
Britt and Oz’s Lake Tekapo wedding was one of those beautifully simple, joy-filled days where everything just felt right, wind and all.
They flew over from Australia with 35 of their favourite people and created a celebration that was warm, relaxed and wonderfully intimate. The morning unfolded quietly – Britt and her bridesmaids getting ready close-by with hair and makeup by Kate Carney (Hair On The Hill), while Oz and the boys prepped just around the corner, keeping things light and full of laughs.
Their ceremony at the Church of the Good Shepherd carried that classic Tekapo drama - bright skies, big landscapes and a decent “breeze” sweeping across the lake as Minister Craig Allan led a heartfelt service. After hugs and congrats, we slipped away with Chris Stanley from Focus Photography to explore the countryside just as Britt had hoped. The wind gave us movement, energy and those wild, cinematic moments you can’t plan – hair flying, dress dancing - perfectly imperfect.
Their reception at TLV Restaurant & Bar kept things cosy and full of heart – warm speeches, music by Blake Corbett, and a yummy wedding pavlova by Angie and Stan Taylor from Morelea Lakeside. Florals by Yumi at La Campanella and Britt’s Luv Bridal gown tied everything together beautifully.
It was a small wedding with a big heart – natural, real, windswept and full of the kind of joy that makes Tekapo feel like the perfect place to start a marriage.
If ever there was a day that proved simple can still be spectacular…this was it.
