This Banks Peninsula gem is perfect for a quick escape. The kids conquered the track in no time, and next minute we’re sliding down a secret grass chute behind the hut, sizzling banana choc-chip wraps on the stove, and playing camouflage and tsunami in the windswept forest like our lives depended on it.

We packed in all our favourite hut games (plus about 14 rounds of “what’s for dinner?”) and proved that a weekend away doesn’t need to be massive to be magic.
